What is Overeaters Anonymous?

Overeaters Anonymous (OA) is a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength and hope, are recovering from compulsive overeating. We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. There are no dues or fees for members; we are self-supporting through our own contributions, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations. OA is not affiliated with any public or private organization, political movement, ideology or religious doctrine; we take no position on outside issues.

Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive overeating and to carry the message of recovery to those who still suffer.

OA caters for all who have a problem with their eating, such as compulsive overeaters, anorexics and bulimics.

OA was established in the USA in 1960 and can now be found throughout the world, which is broken up into various regions.

For more information on Overeaters Anonymous and how it works, go to About OA.

Where is Region Ten?

Region Ten includes countries and territories in Australia, the Far East, New Zealand, South East Asia and the Western Pacific Basin. For meeting information in a specific area, we recommend that you contact your nearest OA Intergroup or search the meetings list on the OA World Service Office website . Please note that if there isn't a meeting near you that Region 10 also has an outreach service for loners.

  • Periodic mailings from the OA World Service Office
  • A listing with the OA World Service Office
  • A list of other loners world-wide.

To learn more about the Loner Listing, go to the OA World Service Office website and download a registration form or email the World Service Office at info@oa.org.
